One can never get tired of these views!
Lake Arenal is the largest lake in Costa Rica – approximately 85 sq. km or 33 sq. miles. The climate is ideal – spring-like with a dry season (December or January through May) and a rainy season (June through November). Temps average in the 70’s and 80’s so air conditioning is rarely if ever needed. The tropical rain nourishes beautiful vegetation and varied wildlife including many species of birds. The lake is pristine – perfect for boating, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, rainbow bass fishing, and world class windsurfing at the northwest end. The locals and expats are some of the friendliest you’ll find in Costa Rica. There are bargains in real estate for both sales and rentals and the cost of living is relatively low. Veggies and fresh fruits as well as seafood, chicken, eggs, honey and other “whole foods” are reasonably priced at the local farmers markets.
Costa Rica is both diverse and beautiful. It is one of the oldest democracies south of the border. It has 1) no army, 2) the highest literacy rate in all of the Americas, 3) the toughest environmental regulations in the western world, 4) 25% of all land national park or conservancy, 5) among the best and affordable health care, and 6) a population that loves the PURA VIDA which translated means “Pure Life” and means “Everything is OK” or “Cool” used like a positive expression for everything!
